  1. Take in a lot of warm water. Since the weather is usually cold, warm water is advised to be taken to compliment the temperature of the body. Though one hardly sweats in this season and therefore might not see the essence of taking in water intermittently, it is advisable to take in a lot of water, especially those who stay outdoors for most of the days. This is because the throat gets dried up easily because of the dry weather and this can lead to a sore throat.
  2. Take in many fruits. In every season, every time, fruits, according to researchers and medical practitioners, are to be taken often if not regularly. In this season too, fruits have been recommended to be taken often. They help in keeping the skin fresh in addition to the intake of water.
  3. Always have a hand or body cream on you for use, in case you feel your skin is dried up. Shea butter, lip balms, and other skin essentials help in coping with the harmattan and still make the skin look fresh.
  4. Try as much as possible to prevent burning, especially around dried up leaves, forest or anywhere susceptible to the fire which can cause havoc such as bush burning, burning of homes and other disastrous situations.
  5. The harmattan usually comes with cold weather. Appropriate clothes are advised to be worn to keep the body warm and prevent the exposure to cold air which can also lead to one getting coryza or a common cold.
