As many of you are aware there are confirmed cases of community spread COVID-19 within Ghana. We wanted to take this opportunity to update you all on our procedures that have been implemented in relation to the virus in our attempt to protect you and the community. Just as we have asked our own staff, we also request that if you are experiencing any cold/flu-like symptoms that you stay home and if symptoms get worse call the Ghana COVID Helpline so you get tested.
Please also note that if you have recently returned from any overseas travel, we ask that you wait 2 WEEKS before stepping out into your community Furthermore, in the event, you or someone you have had contact with someone who is diagnosed with COVID-19 and you have visited family and friend in the past 14 days, we ask that you alert the health line so that they can take appropriate measures within your community.
Here are 10 steps recommended by the Department of Health to reduce the risk of COVID-19.
Wash hands often with soap and running water, for at least 20 sec. Dry with paper towel or hand dryer.
Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow.
Isolate yourself at home if you feel sick. If you take medication, ensure that you have adequate supplies.
Phone your GP first if you need medical attention. They will tell you what to do.
Continue healthy habits, exercise, drink water and get plenty of sleep.
You don’t need to wear a face mask if you are well.
Buy an alcohol based sanitiser with over 60% alcohol.
Get the flu shot (available April).
Please avoid shaking hands.
